These garden entrance gates are hand-made from split sweet chestnut wood, in the style of a traditional 5 bar field gate. The joints are tenon and mortice to give the gate strength and longevity. The split cleft method of making gates gives the garden furniture an organic rustic quirky look, and adds strength as the grain is not cut.
Off the shelf hinges and latch metalwork furniture is an option as the gate rails are relatively straight, however we offer hand-made hinges to follow the curves of the timber and latches. These can be made by our blacksmith and more-so recently ourselves.
