This was a lovely project and client. The location overlooking Lyme Regis, Dorset and the Cobb. The client wanted to use there own windfallen turkey oak tree to make a rustic outdoor kitchen bar. He had seen a kitchen bar and outdoor dining table at www.highgrangedevon.com we had made previously and loved it.
We talked through various options and I designed the bar you see below.
We sliced the tree trunk to have the flat bar top, with the undulating underside supported on oak legs. We placed logs under the bar following the natural curves of the tree trunk section. This added an authentic aesthetic for the overall appeal of outdoor BBQ kitchen area and this rustic outdoor kitchen bar. I just hope the logs haven’t been used on the BBQ!
With the main part of the tree trunk we carved out seating sections at different heights for picnics and just relaxing and looking at the amazing views, It being located in a wonderful position with views down the valley to Lyme Regis.
Lastly, we cut larger trunk sections into seating around a circular outdoor meeting area.
I really enjoyed this project as the client was excellent, with a strong idea of what he wanted and trusting that our experience and design skills could achieve something special for him and his clients to come and relax at his beautiful home. Well worth visiting their website if you are needing to inspire a group of business colleagues www.uppingyourelvis.com
We certainly felt inspired in the grounds of the property and would love more projects like this.
