This double garden gate and cleft fencing, all in Sweet Chestnut with Copper metalwork, is in the private garden of Rob Jones – from the Garden Design Company Ltd.
The commission separates the wildflower meadow, where Rob keeps Bees, from the more formal vegetable patch.
‘Cleft’ means to be split down the fibres of the tree. The result is that the fibres are uncut so water cannot get in at the fibre end and cause rot/damage. This is an original method of fencing which is durable, strong and attractive.
