During the summer of 2009, Ed Brooks Furniture were asked to exhibit furniture and also to display our craft at the annual Plant Finders Fair hosted by Gardens Illustrated at the magnificent grounds of Cottesbrooke House and Gardens.
We arrived with several pieces of furniture and the tools and pieces of timber to assemble a gate. The show was so busy, and the crowd so interested that we failed to finish the gate.
Our first commission received from the show was by the owner himself, Alistair Buchanan-Macdonald. He asked us to design 2 large double gates and a single gate within his beautiful gardens.
Within his breathtaking grounds he had a windfalen Oak which we had cut by a local mobile sawmill. The imber was then worked into his gates and installed on site. There was much extra timber that was cut for future use o the estate.
To have furniture made of ones own timber provides rather a special story.
