The City of London asked Ed Brooks Furniture to construct and fit the oak bench/excercise equipement onto the north bank of the river Thames next to London Bridge. The giant pieces of oak are set into position and fixed with stainless steel brackets. They have stainless steel handles and bars for people to excercise, stretch or just relax and have some lunch. The oak was sustainably sourced from english woodlands.
The pieces of equipment finished and finally open to the public.
The pieces above have stainless steel handles and bars to help with simple excercises.
The various tapers and angles give the equipment a sculptural feel.
The open area has finally been opened to the public, and you can see the pieces are being used by lots of people on their lunch breaks.
