In 2004 Ed Brooks Furniture were commissioed by Whitelaw Turkington Landscape Architects to create some site specific furniture for the award wining Diageo public park.
Two Turkey Oaks had come down in the gales and Ed Brooks was asked to come up with a proposal for the timber. The timber was quantified, 10 posts to hold information posts and 2 benches were designed and agreed by the client.
Ed Brooks Furniture met a local mobile sawmill on site and cut the trunks to sawn timber. The furniture was then constructed and hand finished and the pieces installed.
Within minutes of the posts being installed, there were members of the pulic reading the information signs with one hand absent mindedly carressing the tactile timber.
