Ed Brooks Furniture was approached by the City of London late in 2009 with a once in a lifetime commission, to build and install some outdoor oak steps for the gardens of St Pauls Cathedral.
The idea was to create a temporary set of steps to allow the many visitors to St Pauls to access a sunken lawn next to the celebrated dome.
A site visit allowed a very bespoke set of steps, 3m in width to transport the visitors 1m down into the garden, and yet was not supported in the City of London’s planted border.
Oak was bought from a local supplier in Dorset of FSC status, and the large steps built in the Dorset workshop, before being transported to the Capital.
