This gate was designed to compliment the natural arched hedge leading from the main garden to the orchard. We used mixed materials of oak and sweet chestnut. As per usual sympathetically sourced from windfallen trees in the local area. The gate hangs on chestnut posts sourced from our woodland.
As you can see the hinges follow the curves of the timber. These were made by our local blacksmith, who hand forges them on the gates which we deliver to him. Along with the latch and catch. The top hinge is set on the middle rail for aesthetic reasons.
